How to Earn a Side Income With FestFlow's Refer & Earn Programme

Let's be honest — between fuel, groceries, and rent, most of us are looking for a way to put a little extra money in the bank each month. The catch is that most "side hustles" want your time, your weekends, and your sanity.
So we built one that doesn't.
Our Refer & Earn programme pays you a real commission every single time someone you referred sells a ticket on FestFlow. You introduce one event organiser to the platform, and from that day on, you earn a share of every ticket they sell. Forever. No cap. No expiry. No "active for 30 days" small print.
Here's how it works, who can join, and what you can realistically expect to make.
The simple version
You get a unique referral code as soon as you have a FestFlow account. You share that code with anyone who runs events — a promoter friend, the lady who organises music concerts, the guy who runs a comedy night every Thursday. When they sign up using your code, they're permanently linked to you.
From the moment they host their first event, you earn 10% of FestFlow's platform fee on every single ticket they sell. That money is calculated in real time, tracked live in your dashboard, and paid into your bank account at the end of every month.
That's it. You don't have to chase invoices, manage anything, or do follow-up work. You made the introduction. We handle the rest.
Who can actually do this?
This is the part that surprises most people: you don't need to be an event organiser to earn. There are two ways to join.
If you're an event organiser already, you're enrolled automatically. The minute your FestFlow organiser account is approved, your referral code is live and waiting in your dashboard under "Refer & Earn". You can start sharing it the same day.
If you're a regular FestFlow user — someone who buys tickets, follows events, or just knows a lot of people in the scene — you can apply to join the programme from your dashboard. We review applications within 2 to 3 working days. We're looking for people who have a genuine plan to share FestFlow: a community group, an Instagram following, a WhatsApp circle of party people, or just a knack for connecting organisers with the tools they need.
This second path is honestly where some of the most interesting earnings happen. If you're already the friend who knows every event in town, you might as well get paid for it.
The maths — what can you actually earn?
Let's run real numbers, because vague "earn passive income" promises are useless.
FestFlow charges organisers a 3% platform fee. You earn 10% of that fee. So on a R200 ticket, you earn R0.60. That sounds small until you scale it.
Imagine you refer one organiser who runs a mid-sized event in Pretoria — say 800 tickets at R250 each. That's R200,000 in ticket sales, R6,000 in platform fees, and R600 in commission to you. From one event.
Now imagine that organiser runs 6 events a year. That's R3,600 in your pocket from one referral, every year, for as long as they're on FestFlow.
Refer 3 organisers like that? You're at roughly R10,800 a year in mostly-passive income — and the only work you did was send a WhatsApp message and an introduction. Bigger organisers (festivals, multi-day events, ticketed concerts) push that figure significantly higher.
We've actually built a calculator on the Refer & Earn page where you can plug in your own assumptions and see what you'd earn over a year, or over five years. Worth playing with.
What makes this programme different
A lot of platforms have referral schemes. Most of them are bad. Here's what makes ours actually worth the time:
No cap on earnings. Some programmes pay you for the first month, or the first R5,000, then quietly stop. Ours doesn't. If your organiser sells a million Rand of tickets in their tenth year on FestFlow, you still earn your 10% on every ticket.
No expiry on your referral. Once someone signs up with your code, they are linked to you permanently. Even if they take a break from FestFlow and come back two years later, your link reactivates automatically.
Real-time tracking. Your dashboard shows you every organiser you've referred, every event they've hosted, every ticket they've sold, and exactly how much you've earned. No guessing, no monthly statements that don't add up.
The organisers you refer get a real benefit too. They're not signing up to a bare-bones account. Referred organisers get priority onboarding, a one-on-one walkthrough with our team, and access to our partner perks — including a 10% SAMRO licensing discount and discounted Throbtek wristband rates. That makes your pitch to them genuinely valuable, not just a favour to you.
How and when you get paid
Add your banking details to your dashboard once, and you're set. We process commission payouts via EFT at the end of every month, as long as your pending balance is at least R100. Anything below that rolls over to the next month so you don't lose a cent.
Make sure the account name matches your bank records exactly, and the rest is automatic.
A note on fairness
This programme runs on trust, and we want to keep it that way. A few rules we have to enforce:
You can't refer yourself. You can't refer a second account you control. We check this with email, phone number, and payment method matching, and any commission earned through self-referral is voided. The programme is for genuine introductions — organiser to organiser, fan to organiser. That's it.
We also reserve the right to suspend referral access if we see something dodgy. If you're playing it straight, you'll never hear about this rule. If you aren't, you will.
Who is this perfect for?
If any of the following sound like you, you should genuinely sign up today:
You run a WhatsApp group or community where event organisers hang out. You're an event photographer, MC, sound engineer, or vendor who works with multiple organisers a year. You're a content creator who covers nightlife or festivals. You're a promoter with relationships across multiple venues. Or you just attend a lot of events and know everyone in your local scene.
For all of those people, this programme is essentially free recurring income for introductions you'd probably make anyway.
Ready to start?
Head to https://festflow.co.za/referral-programme to learn more, or jump straight into your dashboard and grab your referral code under "Refer & Earn". If you don't have a FestFlow account yet, signing up takes about 30 seconds.
Then send your link to one organiser this week. Just one. And let it compound from there.
Welcome to the team.
